Documentation

Hi,

Where considering buying a house in the future, what sort of documentation should we be proactivly keeping to aid us in obtaining a mortgage?

So far,

Both my partner and I have Bank statements since Jan 2003 although we are missing a couple of pages (3 our of 33 pages are missing of mine, and 11 out of 40 pages the huby has missing) but have very little missing for the year 2005.

I have kept my P60 for April 2005 and every wage slip since then (missing 1) but as I am on salary they all show the same figure bar a small pay rise. My partner on the other hand has his P60 for April 2005, but only have payslips from his new job which started in September of last year.

We both have passports so plenty of proof of identification, is there anything else we should be keeping? should we be proactivily doing something about the missing information above or do with suficient effidence so far?

Cheers,

Sarah

You can keep as mush as possible as you never know what a lender will ask for, however under normal circumstances you may need:

    Last 3 months payslips
    Last 3 months bank statements
    Last P60
    Utility bills

This is in addition to proof of your ID

  • Thanks for the reply herbiesjp, yeah so it looks like we have kept most of the usual information needed.

The only thing where short on is Utility Bills, we have been living in halls of residence for 4 years, where all we had to pay was our rent, everything was included. Infact we have very little documentation with the address of the flatlet, we just left everything (bank accounts/mobile phones/savings/credit cards) in our respective parents address to make life easier....

Can you foresee this giving us problems?

Are you on the electoral register at your parents' addresses? If so, you could use that as your main address and add a note to the effect that you've been a student living at halls and your main address is with your parents.
