I got my Natwest ADV GOLD account reduced!

Today i rang up natwest and got given the runaround as i was trying to cancel my advantage gold account which is costing me £12.95 a month.
Then i tried about the 3rd number they gave me to cancel it and i told the lady on the phone that i wanted to keep the account but felt it was not right for me at this time and would look at going back onto it in the summer when my finances were better.
She then said that if i agreed to keep the adv gold account open she would offer me one of the following option.
-3 months totally free
or
-6 months at £6 a month
If you have an adv gold account ring this number 0800 282 702 and ask just pretend you want to downgrade to a current plus.

I have an Advantage Gold Account, I wasn't aware I'm paying each month for the priviledge.
Whats the difference between Advantage Gold and a normal account?
What do I get besides free travel insurance (considering I cant go abroad at the moment as no money) so it may be no use to me!Claims to come in (hopefully);) : £550 Bank, £2500 PPI
