Tesco Online Grocery Orders - when is your card charged??

Hi,
I don't usually shop online, but I have placed an order to be delivered to my grandparents for their Christmas present and it will be delivered this Saturday, 20th December.
Can anyone please tell me when my debit card is likely to be charged? I'm thinking that it might not be on Saturday because it's not due to be delivered till late afternoon - so will it be Monday?
Just trying to balance the finances..... you know how it is!!
Thanks in advance for any help!

It will likely be early Saturday morning when the pick the items. They obviously check that you have enough money before they deliver the items to you or they would have people constantly having food delivered and not having the means to pay.0 -
i know with asda they pre approve card the day before, and then take money out on the morning of delivery.0

I thought this too, but seem to be in the middle of a bad experience with Asda over this very thing.
I had a delivery on the 8th December. No problems - everything delivered, one sensible substitute and, as far as I was concerned, everything was sorted. Apparently not.
I came home this evening (15th) and as matter of routine dialled 1471. I have been expecting a call from Toys R Us about a delivery for Christmas so assumed that the 0845 number that was left was about that - so pressed 3 to ring the number back. It was Asda customer service.
After much umming and arr-ing they found my customer account and said that they couldn't take the money for my delivery and I wouldn't get my shopping. I was quite baffled and said that I didn't have an order outstanding. A few minutes later and it emerges that they don't think that they have been paid for the delivery that I received over a week ago and they started asking for my bank details!
I explained that I would have to check with my account but queried why a delivery that isn't paid for would be sent out. The lady on the phone was awful and just kept repeating "I understand that" over and over, when it was obvious that she just wasn't listening to my questions or trying to answer them. Then she claimed that because we order on a regular basis and there have been no problems in the past, they just let it go out without payment.
This doesn't make any sense to me at all. She repeated that she wanted my bank details, which I obviously refused, then she said that I would receive a phonecall the next day. Since then I tried to log onto the Asda site to see what's going on but, when I tried to, it said that my account has been suspended!
Is there someone from Asda (or just anyone!) that could throw some light on this for me?
Thankyou.0 -
I have had a bad experience with ASDA Direct.
I ordered goods from them and they took payment of £45 approx on 17th November. I phoned them up after non receipt and dealt with their South African call centre. I was told they would look into it and was told that I would receive a calls about the problem. I didnt receive the calls so I phoned again today only to be told that their supplier had gone bust and they never had the goods there in the first place ... they appear to order them but dont have the items in stock! They have a long list of customers who have ordered stuff which cannot be supplied.
I was then told it would take 2 weeks for a refund but after speaking to the guy in charge the refund became prority ... immediately!0 -
I do my online shop with Tesco, 2 days after delivery my money comes out of account

I pay for my Tesco shopping by credit card and the amount is debited on the morning of the delivery. When I place the order they put a £2.00 holding charge onto my card and then this is removed when the actual amount is billed.xxx Nikki xxx0

mine comes out the day after delivery normally0

Mine always shows in temporary processing on the day it is delivered, usually about 3 hours before. Thinking about it I dont know what they would do about substitutions etc but I know when I was expecting a delivery last Saturday I checked my bank account online and the full amount was in Temp processing before it was delivered.0

I've had issues with Asda Groceries. They charged my card on the morning of delivery but i also had the estimated amount (holding amount) pending in my bank balance for days. It took several phone calls between me, Asda and my bank before the holding amount was removed from my account. It's not good when you have no money available because it's in limbo!! :mad:If it's free and I can eat it, I'll have it!0
