online shopping (Abbey) - another small ripoff

I have an Abbey credit card which I've recently started to use for absolutely everything as its 0%.
Today I noticed a mystery payment of I think it was 69p, and phoned to query it. Turns out that every time that thing pops up that asks you to provide a password, you get charged for the 'extra security'.
When I phoned abbey they first made out it was nowt to do with them, then when i said but it had your logo on so I thought it was 'official' they admitted they have a joint vebture with this company.
A small sum, but if yiu shop online a lot (I do) it would add up, so I'm glad I noticed and thought I wd point it out to others.

With my RBS card a similar thing pops up and asks for a password, but they do not charge. Hence why I was not so cautious.
