The CCCS have said that bankruptcy is really my only option. They advised me to open a basic bank account before the bankruptcy which will be on 12th Jan 2009, however, after reading some of the threads on this site I'm not so sure now. I will need an account to have my wages paid into each month and it doesnt seem very easy to open these accounts at all. Any advice would be gratefully received!
Pat.

  • Speak to the Co-op - you can open a cashminder account as long as the co-op are not amongst your creditors and you should be fine.

  • Mine was deferred and then they just said I needed to show proof of address because I had only been at my address for 5 months. Showed them the council tax no problem. Account was approved and then opened.

  • Is this acceptabel with the OR? If I get our salarys paid in and all our Direct Debits moved will they not see that as a bad thing?

No not at all. You are getting your affairs sorted and in order ready for going bankrupt, very sensible.

    hi pat

after reading through the posts on this forum i took out a coop account and was deferred as well. it has gone through now and am in process of swapping over direct debts etc for january. it is like the first step in facing up to problem and getting finances sorted out. it seems i can take out a dmp plan for now hoping my house sells next year. fingers crossed.

if house does not sell then plan b which may well be br.

ill health has caused me to cut down my working hours in half which is what triggered off events but it would have happened anyway in a couple of years when i retire so have got my head round it all by thinking i am just doing it earlier.

    good luck

Another question - I have a car that is worth more than £2000 so is seen as an asset - right?? In Jan 09 I start a new job and have to travel approx 85 miles per day, would the OR let me keep the car?
