Jammin,
Maybe the reason why the Euro doesn't have any living people on the currency is due to the fact that no one really fought and died to preserve things that make a country great like liberty, and honour, and risking one's life to protect the people of that nation from harm.
The EU is like a USA or England look-a-like. It has the appearance of a great country with a flag that even resembles the early circle of stars in the New England American flag, but it's not the same.
Maybe that's why both the British and American flag have the colour red in it. It represents the blood that purchased those flags. The EU flag is only blue and gold.......no blood was shed to lift it up.
The EU is a cheap imitation of a great nation, a puppet show, a magicians trick, something that has been conjured by sleezy politicians, greedy bankers and showman with one purpose, to bring everyone together to get rich.
That's why I don't want any part of what the EU is selling to the rest of the world, and I hope other folks are smart enough to see it as well.0 -
Deary me..
Q. What rhymes with Patriotic?
A. Idiotic
What a load of old cobblers...about blood/red flags  there's no red in the Scottish flag but there's been plenty of blood spilled over the years
Fat lot of bloody use it did either!
The only reason wars are fought is to maintain the status quo (or replace the existing ruling elite with another bunch of ruling elites) - the liberty nonsense is to drum up support amongst the poor sods that will actually do the fighting part for the ruling elites.0 -

Barry if we knew the answer to that we would all be trading currencies and making a fortune...:)
My gut feel is we will probably hit parity or close to it in the next few weeks, there will be a couple of dead cat bounces before we get there.
However I would expect it to hit +/- parity and then rally a bit as we move into the spring (on the poll I have gone for 1:1.10-1.19)
Depending on how much you need and how much it is going to cost you to buy, if I were you I would be looking to do some averaging ie buy some in the New Year (early spring) when you think you have a good rate and just buy some more as the market dictates. That way you should end up with a decent average if it crashes further.
Of course sods law dictates that whatever you do it will be wrong...so good luck.0 -
I certainly see the logic in your statement above regarding the fall in the value of the Pound and the lower "buying power" that should result.
However, I never saw any real change (i.e. a fall) in prices over this way as the Euro became stronger against the US$.
Most goods aren't imported from the US; they are imported from the Far East. Now I have no idea how their currencies were doing, but the real cost of most products (especially technology items) is not based on the exchange rate against the dollar, but the exchange rate vs China or other countries in that region.0 -

It's got to happen some time and if the rate is the same the shop keepers and supermarkets won't be able to stich us up like they did in 1971 when we changed to Decimal. It will also be easier for the old and mathmatically challenged to cope with if the change is 1 for 1.
Hello All,
I cannot see the rate changing below 1:1
I have a small business that does a little exporting and importing hence we have a GBP account a euro account & a US $ account.
I would just start invoicing in euro's if the GBP goes below 1:1 I think a lot of other companies would do likewise. If you weigh more than the space you take, You will sink !.0 -
A few months ago if someone had said triple A banks would falll like nine pins ,property on the slide , famous names on the high street going bust with more waiting in the wings .The pound unloved and battered from every angle i wouldnt have believed it . Is it all a myth? Its a bad dream the world has suddenly realised that pounds arent worth anything . Like the emporers new clothes the pound is looking a tad threadbare. Sooner or later we will have to join the euro rapid unemployment plus very little help for job seekers will cause social unrest and all its related problems .Hopefully im wrong on this but in the mean time make sure your food cupboard isnt like mother hubbards and keep your piggy bank free from predators .And in the worse case possible that the pound goes like zambian money buy yourself a large wheel barrow.0

For the past 1000 years, every nation that surrounds this little Island has attempted to invade and control England. The French tried it several times, the Spanish Armada tried it, and Germany tried it twice.
And prior to that England was invaded by the Romans and Vikings amongst others... It has zip to do with the euro though0 -

China is pegged to the US dollar and it drives the Yanks mad.
Japan's money has been going up about as fast as ours is falling. That is why even the World's largest car manufacturer, Toyota is dropping into losses and muttering about moving out of Japan for good.0
