Electric Cheaper than expected

Just got my NIE bill in I have use 1105 units this quarter but it was charges at 12.66p per unit. I thought it was meant to be 16.88p from October. What has everyone else been charged?

Also just seen its going down (or up in my case) to 15.06p from start of Jan

I was wondering about that myself. My last bill based on 3 Nov reading was charged at 12.66p and the next one will presumably be at the new rate of 15.06p.
Has anyone actually paid the 16.88p rate or did NIE announce it just to wind up the hysterical Consumer Council?
  • Will probably be a rate based on the lower Aug/Sept rate added to the higher October rate and divided accordingly.

I thought it could have been this but im near sure 12.66p was the tariff price before the increase to 16.88

I doubt it. They use the price applicable on the day the meter is read.
  • Mine was still at the 12.66 rate as well. Though was over £97 for the quarter and I'm mostly on my own!! I would hate to be paying any more. I've never been that keen on the fact that NIE have a monopoly here and can more or less (within reason of course, though sometimes you wonder) whatever they like.
