Has anyone tried this business idea?

Coupon Clipping!

A lot of my online mates from US and Canada say that apart from online discount vouchers they also pay monthly or annual subscriptions and receive the coupons they want in the mail, either printed off computers or else clipped from newspapers and magazines.

I took a look and couldn't find anything similar over here. Perhaps it would appeal to someone very organised with room at home for stacks of papers.

It sort of reminded me of those competition clubs. I used to belong to one of those.

Anyone interested?

  • i don't think it will work, as theres so much free stuff on the net and also on this site for ways of saving money dont think people would want to pay for it unless it was even better then whats already available. But thats just my opinion!
  • My brain's not working terribly well today, but there's a ghost of a suggestion that somehow collating this (perhaps running a blog?) might make a small amount of money as a sideline. But whether it could provide the returns for the time invested is hard to gauge.

Thanks for the answers. I didn't think that it would necessarily work over here, especially with all the online info, but I wonder what's the different here from overseas? My mate subscribes to 2 coupon services and I was recently reading an article how a stay at home mother has made a successful business from doing this in the US..

In England there used to be a market for newspaper clipping services where you cut out anything related to certain topics and sell them e.g. companies wanted to know what was being written about them. Some people do that with themes e.g. paranormal, dogs, gardening, inspirational etc then after collating all the information, then turn it into books. Actually that's reminded me of a course I did about re-using newspapers and old books, I'll write another post about that.

The majority of these in the US are magazines full of coupons that the companies pay for their coupons to be in, so it's not the same as collecting offers on the web it's printed coupons exclusive to subscribers of the mag, you make money from the companies paying you to print their coupons and the consumers buying the mag to get the coupons.
