Conor wrote:I guess you've not read some of my other posts. I spent my entire childhood in REAL poverty living on egg and chips and all of us sleeping in one room during winter. I've personally had to live on £22 a fortnight. I got good at doing weekly food shopping for a fiver. When was the last time you managed to do that?
I know what REALLY living on the breadline is about and I didn't have credit as a backup either. It's about paying for the roof over your head, cheap food in your mouth and electric because that's all you can afford. No mobile phone, no car, no Sky TV etc etc.
So don't you DARE EVER tell me what you THINK living on the breadline is about.
You definitely have given up the fight!
I admire you for the morals that you have but in a world like ours it's survival of the fittest
I listen to what you have to say but don't aggree with yourmoral approach.
Where are there any morals when it comes to banks.
They are money rich corporate businesses with directors on disgraceful salaries.
Are you glad that you are making them rich?
We obviously don't see eye to eye but who cares when this is a forum for discussion.0 -
Someone please read the "illegal Bank Charges" thread on "Budgeting and current accounts" especially DChurch's opinions.
I bet none of you aggree with him either.0 -

deep breaths!
You are obviously on a crusade to beat the system.
The best way to do it is not to borrow from them (apart from mortgages and essential) If you stay in credit the banks hate you because they don't make a penny from you!
I'm looking forward to being in that situation.
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Why are you angry with Conor? Neither he or anyone else (myself included) is on the side of the banks. We are merely stating the facts. Banks may lend you money that they shouldn't but the fact is they are entitled to it back. You can not blame them for that. Personally I detest the financial industry and I'd like to go back to being paid in cash, but I accept that it will not happen. In the meantime I get everything out of them I can.
We also appear to have let the thread wander off into vague anecdotes about the past and anger at the structure of the housing market. I have my own tales of financial woe, whilst I know council house owners with pride in there homes and owners who have no mortgage but they live like pigs.
Lets *all* look to the future in a positive light. Now we know the realities we need to move continually in the right direction. Pay off debt, pay off mortgage and then save for the luxuries we want.
