income support, going back to work

hi there, ive been on income support for about 18 months now, as i havent been very well, but now i have a couple interviews in the next two weeks,

i was told by the job centre last year that when i get a job over 16 hours, i would be entitled to a reward or something. not to sure. any ideas anyone? i havent really spoken about the hours with the employers yet. i will be able to do part time, up to 18 hours, or as little as 10 hours. but not sure how the income support will be affected. any help would be great

thank you

You'll get a job grant and an extra £40 weekly for the first year at work plus extra from Working Tax Credit for being disabled and 4 weeks rent and council tax paid once you start working etc, etc.

  • Could be entitled to return to work credit which is a £40 payment every week for a year, job grant £100 one off payment, again see your adviser as got to apply for it within a certain time frame or you'll lose out

I thought you only got the £40 a week for a year return to work credit if you were on the pathways to work scheme?

Hello, im on income support. i was told by the jobcentre that i would get £40 a week for a year when i return to work if i work more than 16hrs.

Im on the pathway to work thing (which is a complete waste of time because the doctor has told me not to work at all until my meds are sorted out) and he said i would get paid £40 a week if i work less than 16hrs a week. Can anyone clarify this please?

Do you have children as it's usually paid to lone parents if you have been on IS for 52 weeks?

You won't get it if your job is under 16 hours a week. If you work under 16 hours a week then you are technically not working as you are working less than the minimum 16 hours a week p/t.

I got it when I returned to work and it was a great help though a shock when it ended as you get used to it!
