But there's also £25 a month on takeways.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

and £20 on lunch/snacks at work'Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairy tales, thats's all she ever thinks about riding with the wind' - Little wing, Jimi Hendrix0

It sounds a lot doesn't it? Thats why I separated the amounts from my normal food bill so I could see a proper breakdown of the figures.
That £20 on lunch/snacks at work could be cut down further I know, it used to be about £80 (£20 per week :eek: ) so I have managed to cut it down by three quarters.
I now spend about £5-8 a week on food shopping for meals, it used to be double and even triple this amount but I used to end up throwing things away :eek: which is such a waste.
I started bulk cooking for work which has saved lots of money, would do more but have quite limited space in our freezer. I have a really sweet tooth and most of that £20 for work lunches is spent on a yummy cheesecake or a fruity yoghurt.0 -
£75 a month for food is pretty good
£5 - 8 on meal shoppng is great, I think I need some advice from you!
bulk cooking is a brilliant idea & you have to have some treats sometimes'Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairy tales, thats's all she ever thinks about riding with the wind' - Little wing, Jimi Hendrix0 -
Bulk cooking has saved me so much money. One problem is I really dislike cooking and can only make a couple of things so I tend to have the same thing to eat at work. I used to spend a horrendous amount on takeaways and would have one every couple of days. :eek:
It used to be more like £25 per week and that was just for me.
I make bacon and pepper pasta for work, have that 3-4 times a week but I love it. Thats pretty cheap and even cheaper if you don't have the bacon!
Also substitute the pasta for bulgar wheat just for variety.0 -
the pasta sounds lovely you should post a recipe for it on old style
can't think of anything else to go on your SOA, have you added it all up yet - hope its good news.'Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairy tales, thats's all she ever thinks about riding with the wind' - Little wing, Jimi Hendrix0 -
No, not added it up yet as I got confused with some of the things that have been paid off already for a few months to come such as the tv licence and my maths is terrible.
I posted the pasta recipe on old style but I think it got ignored. Probably a bit too basic for most people on there but I am no chef by any means and unlike a lot of people I really don't enjoy cooking. It's not as bad when I'm cooking for me and my bf but cooking for one has to be one of the most depressing things I think. Which is why I never used to do it and only do it now purely to save money.0
