Getting braver

Hi all, I've been lurking, posted a couple of times. Finally admitted to my debt last week and have been slowly coming to terms with it all. I did the budget planner yesterday and realise that things aren't that bad for me really. I can meet all of my obligations just can't do anything silly like holidays, new cars etc!
Why oh why did I let myself get into so much debt, if I wasn't having to make repayments then I'd be really quite comfortable!! Oh well we live and learn and I must just be grateful that I have caught all of this before it becomes too much of a problem!
Not sure I am brave enough to undertake some of the massive challenges that are on here but am going to set my own mini challenge.
But the end of 2009 I will have paid off the computer, the overdraft and mum and dad. I will continue to make the payments on the loan and the credit card so they will be reducing and I will live in ignorance as far as the student loan is concerned!! ha ha
Just needed to write all of this down to make a promise to myself, I'm sure its of no interest to anyone else.
So then me .....thats £2840 to go (and the other payments that just go out automatically!!)
Going to add my £2840 to my signature to remind myself!! Ooo I feel all inspired, lets see how long it lasts! ha ha:rolleyes:

Well done for taking the first step - as you are something of a lurker on this site, you'll know that you're likely to get asked to post your SOA. Obviously there is no obligation to do this; however you are likely to get a lot more specific feedback that would hopefully help you.
Keep posting anyway...0 -
Hi Waterwatcher and welcome, I'm a newbie as well and have found that it definately hepls to write anything/everything down! why don't you put up a SOA and see if some of the more experience people can help trim some pennies of our outgoings. don't ask me for the link, have only just figured out how to post a thread :rotfl: oh, and good luck!Jan GC £0/£2000

ha ha ha theskintfamily, know what you mean, this technology lark is hard going, sure life was simpler with pen and paper! But then I suppose I couldn't access all you lovely people then.
Will get around to SOA, not sure a great deal can be trimmed from budget, I need to stop doing stupid things like the weekly magazine which I have just worked out comes to £60 for the year!!! Crikey!! The odd chocolate bar here and there, lets face it my waist line wouldn't be harmed by missing this out!!
I'm going to menu plan for next week today I think!! There thats todays challenge, loads of food in house need to make the most of it all!!0 -
Have just looked at what I have in house, going to bulk cook up a batch of chilli! Good warm winter food and cheap!0
