Here's a tale...
I've had my Lloyds account for 12 years
Ten months ago I had an agreed overdraft of £1900
Lloyds decided four months ago to reduce this to £1300 without telling me, the first I knew was when DD's started to bounce.
Of course they sent the letter that told me that they had bounced and that they were intending to charge me for the privilege of bouncing the DD's
Stupidly, I didn't close the account at that point, what I did was pumped money in from elsewhere and called Lloyds to ask for the Overdraft to be reinstated.
They told me I failed Credit Scoring.
Anyway, Then I found this site and started trying to change things, first thing I did was in November set up a new bank account so that I could stop my wages being swallowed by Lloyds.
I cancelled all of the Direct Debits in one fell swoop........ BUT.....
I had taken out a loan with Lloyds two years ago...
(I'm trying to get the PPI cancelled but that's another story)
When I tried to cancel that one they told me that the branch couldn't cancel it, I had to call the Loans department.
I did this as soon as I got off the phone (December 23), I called the Loans department cancelled one DD and gave them the new account details.
Confirmed this in writing to both the Loans department and my branch.
On January 3 this year I got a letter saying that Lloyds had "paid all the outstanding bills on my account and would like to remind me that I have now exceeded my agreed overdraft of 1300 and would be charged for it.
What put me over that 1300 was the payment for the Loan, to themselves!!!
I called the Loans department, to be told that they had no record of the new account number and were surprised that I had not cancelled the DD at my branch.
And guess what, no trace of the letters either.
So now I start another fight with Lloyds to get the charges taken off and sort out the payment that should never have gone.
Sometimes you wonder if they just do it to stuff your life up....

overdrafts can be reduced or withdrawn at any time, thats why imo they are risky.
as for taking you over your overdraft by aying a payment to their own loans dept, well imo its not right but then if they didnt receive your letters i guess thats bound to happen.
i dont believe both depts failed to get the letters, if they did thats very unfortunate.
can you prove the details of the phone calls or letters at all, did you send them recorded?0
