In your OP you state OH received the letter not you. You may doubt if he would have asked the questions, but your complaint will not hld water because you pre empted the issue. He will undoubtedly say he was going to go on and ask the security questions.0

OH did receive letter but he works away so i open all mail (with his consent) and deal with anything that comes in. When i called to complain i was put through to a supervisior in the legal department who said that even though i said my name and kicked off he should of still have confirmed with DOB and address and he didnt. He had no intentions of checking who i was otherwise he would of done rather tha just open the account. If i was to ring Natwest/lloyds/abbey etc and say oh my name is XXXX and i want to check my account they dont just automatically open it up and go "hey you have xx in there!" they take me through security which is name, address and password characters. They dont just assume they are talking to the correct person so why should any other company0

You may open all mail with the consent of your OH,as do I,but that does not mean that you are necessarily authorised to speak on his behalf as far as the account goes. As has been said, six of one half a dozen of the other.0

I think ive confused you - oh RANG all the debt collectors he deals with a while back and told them he would not deal with them and they were to allow me access and speak to me and only me. They have my mobile number and email address and it is me who is paying them back form MY wages - he has nothing to do with them any more.
When i ring up, no matter what company it is, i am always asked my name and some personal details about OH and in some instances a password but i never ever get told who i am supposed to be or anything like that.
My arguement is - i was TOLD who i was rather than being asked and i kicked off. My name is only on the account to allow me access so i could set up payments using MY bank account (OH has nothing to do with ANY of my bills/bank/house etc) and instead of checking who i was he just carried on. Just because i kicked off does not mean that i am right when i say i am who i am. I could ring up ANY company, say im Mrs v beckham and kick off when they disbelieved me - doesnt mean i am her tho does it - i should still have to prove it0 -
To be binding, authorisation has to be in writing, not given verbally......after all he could be anyone.0

lol which is my point!!!!!! (and to be fair when i sent off letters saying this is my bank details and payments were to be made on this date for XX amount it said on there to authorise me and he signed it)0 -
You said he rang them,no mention of it being in writing. I am not dsiputing that the agent may have gone on to disclose the details, but the fact remains he did not, because you pre empted the situation....so you will never know for sure, nor will those you are complaining to. In future give them enough rope to hang themselves, and you will have a watertight case.0

ok but when i did complain they said he SHOULD of still asked me other security questions and he didnt (they said the call was recorded so was going to check that) so they have already admitted that he was wrong (yes i know that what they said and proving they said it are completely different things) and i was merely venting and next time i will not say anything but i am hoping there wont be a next time. Just wanted to let other people know what had happened so hopefully they dont experience say thing
Off to watch x factor finals
