Faulty goods returning rights

I bought a TV over in Feb 07 and its now got a fault 22 months later. It still has a manufacturers warranty (3 yr).

What are my rights?

The retailer has refused to accept it saying its past their 12 month Guarantee. tell me I need to contact the manufacturer.

I have read consumer direct they seem to only discuss under 6 months , and out of warranty.

Any help.

What part of "contact the manufacturer" needs explaining? It's under warranty so you phone the manufacturer who will arrange repair or replacement. Contact details are on the warranty card that came with the TV, and you will need proof of when you purchased it, such as a receipt or invoice.

  • Does the retailer know it has a 3 year guarantee? Is it an extended warranty or normal.

    Say no more then.:rotfl: Sorry
  • Call PC world, tell them you have a the TV that has gone wrong with a 3 year guarantee, ask who to speak to when you bring it in under the 3 year warranty. If they say speak to manufacturer, tell them that under the SOA it is their responsibility as it is still under warrnty!

    Good Luck!

Q6. Is it true that I have to complain to the manufacturer?
No. You bought the goods from the trader, not the manufacturer, and the trader is liable for any breaches of contract (unless he was acting as the manufacturer's agent).

    Which ; -
Your claim is against the retailer who sold you a faulty item, not the manufacturer.

    Retailer or manufacturer
In most cases, your rights are against the retailer – the company that sold you the product – not the manufacturer, and so you must take any claim against the retailer.

I contacted Consumer Direct who said under SOA PC world have a responsibility to the TV for 6 yrs from my purchase.
Its getting sorted via the manufacturer, they are kind enough to swap it for a new one and the new TV will be under warranty too.
