Cheers Terry. I often have people representing themselves on the other side e.g. seller or buyer and the only problem it raises is Money laundering cos in order to recieve money that solicitor must have ID'd them.
Its my mission to be clear and concise and make sure my clients are very happy and looked after but i know i get frustrated with other lawyers who either get bogged down in the minutiae or have no people skills and just cant communicate. Half the time if the phone was picked up and that client called then any problems could be sorted.0 -
Oh yeah and Merlin just call them and ask them to clarify. if they are charging you seperately for the mortgage then it seems their original aniticipated costs was fundamentally flawed and dont pay it or if u already have done get the money back or do a deal. No Solicitor wants a compliant and then one to go to the SRA.0

Thanks. You look like one of the sensible members of the fraternity.
Unfortunately, you've started me off on the subject of identity verification! I produce my passport but I make a point of covering up stuff like visa and children's names and DOB' s with a yellow post-it pad. And I also refuse to let my passport leave my direct line of vision as I am ultra-cautious. This don't half upset most solicitors though! And they get even more upset when I ask them for photographic proof of their identity! What's good for the goose.............
