in N. Ireland
It's coming up to that time of year where DH and I are thinking of having a couple of days away. We normally go across the border but with the way the euro is at the minute, that's out (this is the MS element of the question ). Can anyone recommend a hotel in NI that has proper sea and beach views?

Causeway Hotel has great views over to Portrush - just make sure you ask when booking as not all the rooms have a view.

The Slieve Donard in Newcastle is good too - you don't even have to cross a road to get onto the long sandy beach.

The Londonderry Arms is lovely- not a beach view, but some rooms with view over the harbour at Carnlough. Great place! http://www.glensofantrim.com/0

I would second the slieve donard for the views, location & also the fabulous spa! It is very pricey though & I wouldn't bother to eat there. Even the staff in the bar are bit useless. The Bucks head in Dundrum is meant to be lovely for dinner (a short drive/taxi ride away) but when I was there we went in a lovely wee restaurant in the main street but I can't remember what it's called....
I think we could see belfast lough from our room in the Culloden but I think it was way off in the distance.... Lovely hotel though.1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100
