Meal Planning - how do you do it?

Hi Sarah,
I don't think it's boring at all, especially when you have a small baby in the house....when mine were small the rest were lucky to get fed at all some nights.
There's an earlier thread on mealplanning that should help with how others do it:
Meal Planning - how do you do it?
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

I think this is a good idea to get you through a tiring time and if you do get fed up, you can always change the days, or swpa one day for a new recipe. Good luck!0

I think your plan is a good one because it takes away the hassle of thinking of something to cook yet still allows for variety because you haven't specified exactly what the meal will be.
I posted something similar, it might be on the thread Pink has linked. It goes something like;
Monday -fast food -hm versions of burgers, or sausages, bacon and eggs, beans
Tuesday -leftover roast -curry, risotto, pilaff, pie
Wednesday - one-pot meal -bean stew, mac cheese, pasta bake
Thursady - cold meat, baked spuds and salad
Friday -something exotic or cooked by someone else
Saturday -family favourite
Sunday- Roast

I think it sounds fine Sarah, babies are work and so anything that makes your life easier sounds good to me! As others have said you could swap days around, and you can use different sauces, veg, pizza toppings etc. Although I have meal planned it seems to default some weeks into a sort of template. This is the first week in ages I have abandoned my plan, but its going ok so far. Once bubs is bigger and less time needed then you can be a bit more experimental if need be.
Good luck.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Sounds sensible to me! Babies are hard work, and I think we all expect too much of ourselves sometimes. I'd chuck in a mince day as well, gives the option of bolognese, chilli, cottage pie (love this as use mince and a bag of mixed veg when in a hurry, top with mash and it's a meal in one!), meatballs, burgers, etc.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

It depends on your personal tastes really - personally i would get super bored having the same meals each week but I havea LOT of recipes i use, so I barely ever have the same thing twice quickly.
but you'll have lots on with the littl'un so might be worth giving it a go for a bit...you can always change the odd day or two if you get tired of itAugust grocery challenge: £50

How about working on a 8 day cycle so that you don't get into to the 'it's Tuesday so it must be sausages' routine, if you see what I mean!0

I really think this is an excellent suggestionBut like Pink, I think when there's a small baby in the house, the others should just be grateful to be fed:p
