I'm trying to do new things every week - got a huge supply of cook books.
But I still slide to some old favourites, its a habit isn't it...
I buy the Goodtoknow recipes mag from Tesco (prob sell it elsewhere too) & its fab, its full of simple-ish, cheapish, family fayre that you want to cook.
I'm off this week so I plan to get cracking on March's copy.0 -
i tend to stick to the same things
Chilli
shep pie
spag bol
chicken dinner
passta bake with leftover chicken
chicken curry
fish pie
meat and tatie pies

The first week of this month went to plan except for Friday night. I had pizza, quiche, wedges and salad as a friend came round, so will have to have what i'd planned another night.
This week should be fine, although am going to swap rice for noodles tomorrow as have lots to use and think they might work well with the satay sauce. Mmm!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I too have the tried and tested favourites which are...
Spicy Sausage casserole
Chicken/veg curry
Beef/veg chilli
Shepherds pie
Veggie shepherds pie (made with lentils)
Spanish Chicken
Chicken/veg Enchillada
Fish, chips and peas
Bottom of the fridge soup
Goulash soup
Chicken Paprikash
Veggie chow mein
Beef & guiness/red wine casserole
I do try to test out new things but this is rather adhoc.
Last few new things were....
Veg samosas - they were yummy, handmade pastry too
Chicken Jalfrezi - mmm ok
Thai fish cakes - not great
Spring Rolls - not great either I need to alter the wrappers as I used rice paper instead of the proper ones.
Thai Green Curry - tasted nice but was toooo hot.
Pork Schnitzl - very nice.
KFC style chicken wraps - v nice too."People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0 -
I have a list of all the recipes I like to cook/eat so I can just pick from there for my meal plans, it saves time....there's over 100 but some I cook more often than others
I don't normally cook the same meal more than once in a month except for sometimes cooking double so I can eat the leftovers the next day.

my son recently asked me to do a cookbook for him with my fave family recipes - all the tried and tested ones! and with variations it came to fifty recipes. and i still experiment, I like to try out new recipes and ingredients - and annoyingly my husbands favourite meals are sunday roast chicken dinner and sausage and mash with onion gravy! grrrrrrr wonder why i bother sometimes!!!0

Most weeks, I'll probably do 5 things I've done before, and a couple of things I haven't. Though the 'new' bit might be how I cook the veg, rather than the whole meal. I would imagine my "don't need to look it up" repertoire is in the 100-plus range, though that does include a number of different things to do with mince, sausages, ham, pasta, etc etc.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000
