Credit Report Info - Where is it?!

Hi
I recently applied for my credit report from Experian which turned up today. The only problem is half of my debt isn't listed on there! I owe at least £10k to HSBC, £4K to Northen Rock, etc, etc. The only thing thats listed on the report is a debt for £200!! Why would this be? Do I need to get reports from the other companies as well? I'm completely confused - please Help!
Thanks

You should also get the equivalent report from Equifax. It is possible that some of the companies you deal with only report to one or the other.

Also, some banks don't reveal the credit activities of their banking customers (i.e. their current account holders) to the agencies, so if you have an overdraft and/or credit card issued by the people you bank with, you may even find that these don't show up at all on your record - especially if you've been managing the debt responsibly/not missing payments. If you default, you may very well find that the debt then suddenly appears on your file.

  • Hi Bargain Rzl
Thanks for your reply - I'm going to try Equifax and hopefully they will be able to give me a more clearer picture of what I owe and who I owe it to. The other thing is the debt that I have with HSBC and Northern Rock are from 2000 ish, I have definitely defaulted on them and no longer bank with HSBC, so I cannot understand why they aren't there in the report. Unless its like you say and that info is held by Equifax. Who knows but thanks for the advice!

HSBC have only just recently agreed to share customer data, and this is via Experian, most of the older accounts i.e defaults from over 2 years ago have not been updated with the credit reference agency’s
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
