How long do homemade mince pies keep for?

Thinking about making mince pies in the next couple of days but don't know how long they keep for? I'm going to store them in an airtight tin

Thanks

    Thanks

    You could always freeze some.;)

I think that the fat content in the pastry means that they'll be fine for a few weeks. For example I bought some mince pies from Tesco today and the best before date is the 16th January. They won't last more than a few days in our house anyway.:D

I hereby volunteer to taste test your home made mince pies to check that they're still (fine quality) edible in a couple of weeks.:D

I would not be able to keep them long here either, I used to bake my own on Christmas Eve but the Tesco one's taste fine and I have more than enough to do already.

The best mince pie pastry ever? You've probably already read this but it is just what it says on the tin. :)

I usually make 3-4 trays at a time, and these will easily last for 12 hours in my house- and there are only 4 of us! Last year I made a minimum of two trays worth at least every other day (if not every day) last december as of the 1st of the month.

So, how do you lot keep them for so long?!

I second that post. Saw the recipe and made 3 dozen on Wednesday to take to work and some deep fill ones made in muffin tin for OH. Put one in his lunch box Thursday and came home to find him on his knees proposing marriage!! :rotfl:

Made ours this morning, kept 2 dozen out in air tight tin and put another 2 in freezer.
