Customs Fees are an unfortunate fact of life when shopping online from non-European countries.

I'd always say to anyone thinking of buying from places such as Australia or USA to presume you WILL get hit with extra charges, then you don't get 'an unwelcome surprise'. If you happen not to receive any extra charges, then you end up with 'a welcome surprise'.

I've order twice from puddlebeach in as many weeks. The first order came through with no charges and the second one did sting me... £15 vat and £13.50 Parcelforce handling fee. I dunno who comes up with these figures!

As a side note... I'm not sure if alot of people realise this, but when some retailers mark down the value of goods and state 'gift' on the customs declaration form, it is technically illegal to do this and you as the buyer are held responsible for the customs declaration form to filled in correctly, not the seller... strange when you consider that you as the buyer have no real way of controlling this - the law works in mysterious ways!
