Barclays Cash Card Account

I applied for a Barclays account on 24 October and got a response yesterday (6 weeks and 6 days later) to say that I have been declined. What lovely people Barclays are! (NOT!). It's a good job I have a Co-op Cashminder Account. I applied with the Co-op on the same day as Barclays and got my account opened a week later.
I guess Barclays don't like me very much because I have a Firstplus secured loan and I have missed several payments in the past. Oh well, their loss, especially as I like my Co-op account.

Only thing with the cashminder is I put a cheque in at the post office on the 27th of November and it still is not in and they told me it won't clear until 17th of December and I am a little worried as I had to pay child benefit in on the 10th and worried now it may not clear in time for CRIMBO.0

Gosh that's a long time, I thought it would take seven working days but that seems too long. Did they say why?
edit - I would complain because from what I have just read, the cheques are supposed to take only 5 working days to clear and this seems a bit of an unnecessary delay.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
They said they did not receive it until the 9th Dec trouble is I put a cheque in the day after and it cleared on Monday they said it had gone to the business dept by mistake and did I own a business (yeah thats why I got a cashminder account) lol....:rotfl:0

It was put in on the 27th of Nov at 10.27 and it still has not even appeared as an uncleared credit yet on the 12th of Dec. Idon't think that they are following their own code of practice.lol.0
