i finally answered the phone to a creditor these people were the reason for me seeking help and finally coming to terms with me debt(so should really thank them)
convo goes like this
DCA hello can i speak to miss lisa ****
ME yes speaking
DCA hello im from blah blah blah regaurding a personal matter can you please confirm some security questions to make sure its you im speaking to
ME umm im going br next wk so will send you the paperwork
DCA umm ok but untill you go br you do realise you still need to make payments to us
ME umm no i dont
DCA ummm yes you do miss ****
ME umm no i dont as if i could afford to make payments to you i wouldnt be going br would i?
DCA so when can we expect a payment miss ****
ME umm you wont im going BR (i said it very slowly as i think she didnt understand first time)
DCA yes i understand your going br miss **** but will still need to recieve payment from you untill you do go br
ME umm no and goodbye
DCA ok then we will be expecting full payment from you now
ME whatever goodbye
that felt good these people rang every day on the hour from 8am till 8pm asking for payments even when told them i had no money they would ring back a few hours later incase i had suddenly found some money under my bed. well it came to head when they sent a very proffessional looking letter pretending to be solicitors i panicked rang them they demarnded the full balance within 7 days or they are taking me to court. at this point i didnt know what powers they had
so should infact thank them as if they didnt do that id still have my head buried in the sand

Hi
You'll enjoy the phone call when you say "sorry but the OR says you have to talk to him/her, and the name and number is"
Its lovely to retain a bit of control isn't it?

That must have been very therapeutic. But do watch out that they don't intensify the pressure on you now. I don't mean to scare you, but if they keep calling or send anyone round to try to talk to you, face to face, just don't answer the phone/door. They're not actually allowed to do doorstep visits without warning, but rules aren't always followed. If you can bear it, try not to say anything similar about your plans to any other creditors. Just don't answer the phone if it's one of their numbers. And you can enjoy yourself all the more after the court date when you give them the number of your bankruptcy order and tell them to contact your OR in future, which will, once and for all, shut them up.

ps what did you do about BT in the end? If you're in the mood for a feisty conversation, perhaps you should take it out on them?0 -
next time, when they ask who you are, ask who they are, and can THEY answer some security questions....0
-
thanks lilybart and cuddlymarm.
yes that felt good to tell them.
if they turn up at my door they will have 2 adult jack russells and 1 pup to deal with.
i have been ignoring the phone to all credtitors but these are the ones that phone every hour if i ignore them so today i wanted a peaceful day so decided to answer and tell them. the last time i spoke to them was just before i phoned the CCCS as it was just after i recieved the solicitor letter so rang them in a panick asking to pay a pitance a month as thats all i could afford and they said no chance full payment of 3k within 7 days or see you in court, i said well you will have to take me to court then.
and with bt im paying them today so will see how long they punish me by keeping my line closed but will go on your advice and say about small children what if i need to phone an ambalance etc thanks againIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -
Good girl! "Unacceptable" usually works a treat, I find. Just got to try and strike a balance between being reasonable, charming and assertive, while remembering the poor person answering the call will have limited powers.0
-
Just a point lisamummytoarchieplusbump, paying one creditor over another is preferential treatmant, just tell them if they ring again that the OR will only reverse the transaction after you have gone BR anyway;)
(the OR probebly wouldnt bother to be honest but they dont know that:p )Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….0 -
i want to stay with bt but because i was saving for br fees i got behind but ive got the money now so i can pay them up.
and im always nice on the phone lilybart what you trying to say about me lol
i worked in customer service for years so know what its like to have someone screaming at you when it aint your fault and ive also mastered the art of being able to tell someone off in such a nice manner they dont even realise as you speak all calm and do it with a smile.
its the soft voice and the smile that confuses people lolIf you want to see the rainbow ,you gotta put up with some rain0 -
