TKMAX faulty goods

I have just read the weekly email and the point on Xmas myths, I think it is very important that everyone is aware of a trap that I fell into recently especially as we are all bargain hunting during the current economic downturn. I purchased a dungaree set for my 14mth old son from TKMAX it was a mamas and papas range zip zap so I thought it was good quality. The nursery pointed out to me the second time he wore them that the popper had come off. Actually only half had come away leaving a very sharp edge next to his skin. I couldn’t find my receipt but as the goods were faulty I took them back to TKMAX where I was told in no uncertain terms that even if the goods are faulty, if you do not have a receipt they do not have to refund!!!!
I explained that this was not just faulty but dangerous as it was for a baby and they basically said this policy has been in place since March and tuff.
MYTH 2. You need a receipt to return faulty goods. With faulty goods you just need to prove purchase. Receipts are the easiest way, yet any other legitimate proof is acceptable.
TKMAX said even though I could prove payment on the exact date and time it had to be a receipt. I used to shop there a lot but am now thinking twice about it. Normally I keep receipts but just this once I can’t find it and am left with goods that can’t be worn and am surprised that Mamas and Papas stock is such poor quality!
