Question about the forms

Hi, I have just got the courage and strength to realise the BR is my only option,I am over 60k in debt, and cannot see a way ahead.
So, I have just started the forms on-line, and already i have a question....where it asks if you have been in an IVA, do i still put the details down, even though it was rejected?? (good old Northern Rock!!! 0.24%!!!!!)

Thanks

    Hi Villan68,

Dont get me started on NR they are the worst of the worst but in terms of what to write on you form you dont need to put the details on there as you dont have an IVA until it is accepted but you might want to write that you did apply as it proves that you did not just plumb for BR as an easy option.

Dont worry about having questions alot of us on here were in the same boat as you once but you will find lots of help on here so feel free to ask away.

The forms can be mind boggling so don't ever worry about asking questions about them:rolleyes: .

Seeing as the IVA proposal was rejected then IMO i would say no,as you in all honesty were not in an IVA,just proposed one.

Well done on making a decision to sort out your life. Its a big step but one that will well worth it in the end.

  • Hi V68

Good luck with forms...take regular breaks.
  • Hello again, i have another question, not really about the forms, more regarding life after br..
I am currently renting a room in a flat share (approx 600 inc bills), however this is contributing to what can only be described as severe depression (doctors words, not mine), and i really would like to get a flat of my own.
Does anyone have an idea as to how the OR would react to my outgoings reflecting this, if i moved before going BR?

    Thanks for any help...
  • The OR won't object to you moving house, especially if it's for health reasons, as long as you can afford it within your income.

  • Is that even if it means it does not leave an "spare" money for a payment order?
Id hate to go through moving flat etc..then be told i should live somewhere that means i cannot afford an Ipa
  • Not really. Where/how you choose to live is up to you, and remember they can disallow things on your SOA. If this is for your health, then you need to consider it carefully, and make sure you find something within your means - finding a place to rent before going BR is often a lot easier than after going BR because of credit rating, etc.

  • Just bear in mind that you can't decide you need a four bedroom mansion, with swimming pool, etc! ;)

  • Thats ok...i cant swim, so i dont need the pool..:)

I have just reached the point where i need to get things sorted or..well im sure you dont need the end of that sentence.
I am only looking at the cheap end of the rental market, and believe me, if i get through this, i will never live beyond my means again....
Thanks again....il be back with more questions soon :)
  • If possible try to sort out rehousing before you go BR. I personally have found I should not have moved from one area authority to another as the housing allowance is lower than my rent (on benefits at mo unfortunately)

Am now a bit stuck, Local authority wont rehouse me as not a priority, Housing associations wont touch me and there are no properties to rent for the allowance my council permits.

I have just found there is a begging letter I can send to the council, where they may give me the £6 a week I am short for 13 weeks.

I too have found that sharing is stressfull and would sacrifice food not to be in that position again
