Used a discount code but charged full price

Basically addtions direct emailed me a £30 off a £60 spend discount code.
It wouldn't work online so I placed the order over the phone. I had an email confirming that I've got £30 off but I've checked my bank account and the full price has been taken out. Is this normal? I think I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the full price is taken out initially and the discount is credited back later.
Thanks,

If you go through Quidco you get an addional 8% discount. I only discovered this after I ordered. Shame.
But I'm still happy with my £30 discount.:j 0
