I absolutely agree with you, feels like the OP is being ripped off by a so called friend. No offence intended :eek:0 -
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT pay your "friend" this money. Mixing friendship and money does not work. I have never been in debt in my life (apart from the mortgage, which is fine) until I stupidly lent a friend my credit card last year. I am now £1500 overdrawn through this and there is no sign of this money being repaid yet.
I implore you not to go down that road.
I'm so distraught about my own situation that I might start a thread asking for advice, as I don't want to hijack your thread.:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0 -
I am still in shock I think. I have a call into Payplan ( :grouphug: am waitin for them to return my messages x2) and I will try to call CCCS but my friend at least won't let me down the way I feel that the debt advice agency has.
I am grateful for the support, I did at least get a couple of hours sleep last night knowing that you are all there for me. My hubby is a great support as well and he is not pressuring me or making me feel stupid at all. None of this is my fault, just very bad choice of second husband!!!!
Hugs back to all

I dont understand why you would want to pay £3,500 to go bankrupt. My girlfriend was in a large amount of debt that was doing her in.
I told her she should go bankrupt to end the pain she was going through. It was a scary thought and we put if off for months.
On the 23rd Dec 2004 we went to the court to partition for her bankruptcy. We went to the courts at 9.30 in the morning. By 10am they had all the paper work from us plus £450 to pay the bankruptcy.
The court told us to go and see the insolvency people at 11.30 and take all available paper work we had like statements etc. We went for a coffee to wait until 11.30.
By 12.00 we had finished with the insolvency people and it was all done, they we very nice and understanding.
2 days ago my girlfriend was discharge from being bankrupt. A happier person no stress and a lot of lessons learnt
THATS HOW EASY IT WAS AND ALL FOR £450.
It was only 2 1/2 hours work which is worth it to stop all the stress and heartache0 -
Don't pay a friend to go bankrupt. The court won't deal with her and the OR will need to deal with you.
A CAB will help you with bankruptcy for free. The court staff are usually absolutely lovely and will help you with the forms. It is basically a matter of filling in a very long form.
Maybe businesses need insolvency lawyers but you certainly don't."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
If you're currently on a DMP then chances are your credit file doesn't look too great at the moment anyway. My advice would be to do the bankrupcy yourself. Far cheaper. If my OH's mother can cope with a repossession and a bankruptcy within a very short space of time I'm sure you can handle it too.
You will need to do things yourself, your friend cannot do this stuff for you. Don't throw good money straight down the drain by essentially giving it to your friend for nothing.
Take a deep breath, say 'I can do this' .... and get it done. You won't look back.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
