Amazon price changes..

Yesterday I was supposed to order a sky challenger helicopter set from Amazon for my mum (as in, order it on her behalf:rolleyes:)
She was doing her usual faffing about and din't get around to giving me her card to pay for it.
Today when I went back the price has changed!

Yesterday it was £29.77 (including 12 Duracell batterys) today it is £31.38.
I know it's only a small amount dearer but it's really annoyed me (being the avid moneysaver that I am)
Does this happen often with Amazon? Does anyone have any idea why it might've increased overnight?

  • Its a regular thing with Amazon Im afraid frequently the prices will go up or down over night, sometimes drastically its just pure luck sometimes if you buy at the lowest price before it shoots up again.

I noticed this too- my item went up £20 though! What i found though, was if i took out the item from my basket, and left it overnight, the price would go back down in a couple of days!

The only thing I can think of is the price targeting that they used to do- they leave behind a tracking cookie so that if you have previuosly shown an interest in a particular product or type of product, when you next go back the price will be higher as they know you are technically more likely to pay it:mad:

Though this time for it's only a small amount, I have seen books cost up to £5 more- until I deleted my cookies. I forgotten all about this and thought they'd stopped doing it, off to delete my cookies!

I'd have cancelled! I bought a couple of books from WhSmith using the Daily Mail £5 off voucher, only to then realise it would've been cheaper to do it online- only by about £1.50 but if I happen to be passing the store this week then I'll be taking them back, I'm pretty good with money most of the time so I could make that £1.50 go pretty far, no way I'm letting Wh Smith keep it!
