Redundancy Question

Good morning,
My company is intending on making a number of redundancies.
I have looked on the BERR website and have a query I hope someone can answer.
There is a minimum 30 day consultation period before notice can be served. So if a person has only one week's notice that starts at the end of the 30 day period. The website says that in effect you would get 37 days notice because of the consultation period.
My question is; does the company inform the individual at the start of that 30 day period or would the person get told after the 30 day period is up, effectively giving a week's notice of redundancy? It's a little ambiguous in that respect.
Thanks in advance,
Pilgrim

Normally you would be given 30 days notice of redundancy not one week's notice.
Ring ACAS for assistance as they will have up to date information and will be able to advise you.0 -
So... if you get made redundant do you just get 30 days notice regardless of whether your statutory notice period would have normally been longer, say if you'd handed in your resignation?0
