  • Just back from the doctors. She was lovely today and really listened to me, took lots of time to listen and look at his chest, checked his ears and so on. I've got a prescription for an inhaler - just as a temporary thing - she doesn't actually think it's asthma and there is none in the family, no allergies or anything else, but she said it may help ease his breathing at night - anti-b's might be more trouble than they are worth as could cause a rash or upset tummy - so I'm in agreement, I don't want to swap one problem for another - but if the inhaler does no good then anti-b's are a last resort. Phew! I feel better knowing I wasn't just fobbed off as a neurotic mother, but lord knows how you get a baby to take an inhaler! Think we will be practising with a teddy...

And now the little angel is sound asleep :A

Just found out OH has a meeting an hour before the nativity this afternoon - he had bloody better make it  to be fair his boss did want him there at 4 which is when it actually starts so he's done his best so far...

I remember Erin once had an inhaler for a night time cough... i know aren't i hopeless that i forgot all about that when we were talking yesterday!!!

Re kids and inhalers, you usually get some kinda add on thingy which you puff into and then they hold the add on thingy and breathe normally with that over their mouths and that for 15 secs gives them enough meds, rather than a draughty puff directly into the mouth... sorry for poor description. Pharmacist will help with that... God i wish i could remember what it's called!!

Erin's nativity is tonight too, so mad rush home from work for me. We only get 2 tickets per family so am taking my mum along, Big G went to the first one, but no pressing desire to go again...

  • So how do you get them to hold the thingy over their mouths! I wonder if bribery - by way of chocolate-coated raisins - is the way to go...

What is Erin going to be, Maz? Elliot's a star - but I don't think he'll end up with the costume as part of it goes around his head and this is a child who goes into a rage if you so much as suggest that he wears a hat

I feel awful, my mum did really want to come but they said 2 people only - if OH doesn't make it I will look like a complete moron AND feel guilty. Shame about Big G, but I guess Erin will be pleased to have her granny there instead?

The one my brother had looked a bit like a big pop bottle with a face mask attached to it. I don't remember Mum having trouble holding it to his face for the required 15 seconds but we are talking 30 odd years ago:o

    Erin is a disgruntled angel!

she really wants a speaking part but she's such a good singer that they always have her in the chorus to keep the others right... or maybe, having written that down, that is my deluded motherliness speaking...! no, teacher did say that one time, but maybe she was humouring me!!
