is this a good deal???

I have just started the ball rolling to move my mortgage. london & country found me a deal with chelt & glouster. 4.49%. £595. saving us £1300 over 2yrs fixed rate.

I rang chelt & gloster as we have a lloyds tsb customer account there should be no fee's. so they.ve offered 2yrs fixed at 4.99% saving us £1416 over 2yrs. Is this a good deal or could we do better???

That same deal may be available through L&C, who may not have been aware of your relationship with the bank when you enquired through them.

  • Hi,

If you post the mortgage amount you're looking for, the term and whether it's a repayment or interest only mortgage, then it will make it easier to see if it's a good deal.

They take down who you bank with so they knew we were with lloyds tsb.

  • As C&G don't offer the same rates to existing customers as new ones, you will most likely end up remortgaging again in 2 years time and incure their £225 mortgage discharge fee. Income allowing, I believe you may be able to do better than both these deals. Have a look at Nationwide and Bank of Ireland.
  • There's no tie in at the end of 2 years so we will be free to move our morgage if we need to. It's not directly with c&g as it's classed as a lloyds tsb morgage. however I will take your advice and ring the bank of ireland and nation wide. thank you.
