Can anyone advise me of how we should go about transfering our house into my name only. I can afford the morgage on my own but how do we go about it?
Will I have to apply for a new mort or can it just be transfered. Do we have to use a solicitor ?

You will need a solicitor and it will cost a few hundred pounds.0

Technically you could do the property transfer yourself but I suspect your mortgage company are going to want you to use solicitors.0 -
As the mortgage is already half in my name and it is with my husbands consent can I just take it over or would I have to apply for a new mortgage?0

The mortgage company could release your husband from his responsibilities under the mortgage and you then carry it on yourself but they may be difficult about doing so. You need to contact the mortgage company and askthem. They may require you to use one of their panel solicitors.0 -
The mortgage company might want to satisfy themselves that your income can justify the mortgage. Also, your husband will have to sign something to the effect that if they need to repossess the property he will move out.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I did this almost a year ago. The Abbey charged about £100 I think to do it and I had to show them that I had the means to pay myself. I had Solicitors fees aswell.0
