OK to explain high car costs; partner is taxi driver so spend 30 a day on diesel, the car needs mot every 6 months and replating every year.
Sorry to be a prat I just so desperate to sort it I'm getting all mixed up

Ditch the car and you can repay your debt - seems most obvious solution?littlechickpea wrote: »OK have bitten the bullet and completed the SOA, phew, painful. I've made some comments - hope you find them helpful... Welcome, and congrats on having the courage to post. I found it very scary when I posted my soa... Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
1) MFW Nov 21 £202K now £169.8K Equity 37.1%
2) £2.4K Net savings after CCs March 26 (but owed £1.1K) so £3.5K
3) Mortgage neutral by 06/30 (AVC £36.2K + Lump Sums DB £4.6K + (25% of SIPP 1.3K) = 42.1£127.5K target 33% 27/2/26 (If took bigger lump sum = 64K or 50.1%)
4) FI Age 60 income target £17.1/30K 57% (if mortgage and debts repaid - need more otherwise) (If bigger lump sum £15.8/30K 52.67%)
5) SIPP £5.2K updated 16/1/260 -
I wrote my reply while others answered... on the car - this is a business expense then really? Are you off setting that against tax? also have you looked at whether if your car is costing you quite so much to run - whether the taxi driving is paying its way sufficiently? I know that is a big question. Perhaps you need to review that as it seems to me most of your partner's income is going on funding the car so really he is bringing less than £500 home for his hard work IYSWIM? I don't know whether it is me that doesn't understand numbers now...:p
It might be worth seeing a business adviser through business link to talk through his business and how he is costing things etc...?
I wouldn't rush into the CCCS thing yet... You could perhaps ring them for advice... I think there is a business debtline as well as the normal one - perhaps you could talk to both?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The car is the income...
Thanks tho Saving Holmes.
I will look at quid co but the money shown for elec is including a dd to pay off a massive bill so won't be able to switch til thats paid I guess. Gas again is wrong as thats the 1/4ly payment, sorry.
No haircuts - mine is like a witches with scraggy split ends, and partner gets his lopped off with clippers by me
No entertainment, sad I know but partner works nights so we never spend any time togther anyway.
Will do phone and internet asap, got tied into a blimmib bt contract which was v annoyed about - lack of comminication with partner as we were both unknowingly trying to sort it out. Grr!
I am having trouble switching debts as we can't get any low or 0% deals due to poor credit score.
Thanks though, will look into quidco

Thanks again. Very good point now I can see the figures, the thing is some days are great for him, I have based the figure for his income on 50 a day which is a bad day. Its so hard to get an accurate picture as its so variable, I don't know how to crunch the numbers when they are so unpredictable...:(0

lets put it this way. with a partners income of 1500 but a monthly expense of £916.67 your partner is earning less than 600 a month.
I hate to say it but a full time job(35 hours a week) @ £6 per hour would earn him more( 840 a month)
You have to ask yourself is it really worth it really? Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000 -
Tell your fella to quit the taxi driving.
Taking into account the business cost you'd probably get more working on the till at ASDA. Plus I think taxi drivers are going to be hit hard soon, less people will spend money on cabs.0
