Lovefilm free rental help needed

I got this too and I wasn't amused that anyone wanting to join (ie my friends) can do so at their own free will by logging on - quite why lovefilm want me to do their dirty recruiting work for them for nothing is a darn cheek! Chucked mine in the bin, they have no value that can't be got on their website if anyone so chooses to do so.

How odd. I got one of those 'we miss you cards, come back and have 3 months free' and it worked just fine... I've been given free welcome back offers three times now ( have also had offers to give to friends that I couldn't have used ). I've taken them up each time and haven't had any problems at all. I think you log into your account first then go to the gift voucher url and enter the code. I've never needed to tweak anything, all my details are on the system and have stayed the same ( email, bank card, address etc ). I'm sure they wouldn't send a direct mailing 'we want you back' gift card if you couldn't use it. I think the t&c are to stop you giving it to people who have been members before but haven't been personally invited.

you can email them and say you just moved into the house? when i moved into a rented house the previous occupants had used it - lovefilm let me have it no quibble - otherwise could put ur address and put a b after the number - counts as differenet house

To those who disapprove - its not stealing - they are offering it! as a student and having 3 addresses within a year ive now had 9 months xx

I got the same offer from tesco (are they the same anyway) - I used to be with tesco dvd then cancelled my subscription - got the card in the post and reactivated my account no problem (with 3 months free rental)

I dont disapprove mate, i think youre a legend
But dont they notice that the last three occupants all just so happen have the same name/surname.

I think if you go via their instructions and go to the page http://www.lovefilm.com/partners/giftcard.html and type in the code and indicate you have been a member before it doesn't work. So perhaps doing it your way by logging into your account and then going to the gift card webpage it may work.

I have had a 3 month trial with Lovefilm which I cancelled just before it was due to run out.
I recently received the £50 free offer gift card in the post. I noticed what was written on the leaflet about it not being for folk who have had promo before but tried using the code anyway - the deal was saying welcome BACK! - however the site would not let me re-activate - said there as an error so I phoned customer services.

They said problem was because I was inputing code at homepage promo code box instead of navigating to lovefilm.com/giftcard page - well I went there tried again and got the same error. Phoned customer services again, explained the situation they reactivated my account - asked me what package I wanted so I asked their advice about the best deal and now have another 3 months of 3 films out at a time...YIPEE!

Forgot to mention - I have recently read that someone had EMAILED customer services about the giftcard promo code not working on a reacivated account and were turned down by reply. I guess it just depends on the viewpoint of customer services agent on the phone as to if they reactivate.

There are probably several different types of promo doing the rounds. Just to clarify mine says 'for: my name' and says 'we haven't forgotten you - in fact, we're sending you an amazing gift to show how much we still think about you: 3 months of FREE LOVEFILM' the only t&c are on the back of the giftcard and they state 'this giftcard cannot be used by existing LOVEFILM users or users of any lovefilm powered site' Obviously I'm not an existing user as I haven't subscribed for a year, I'm not a member of any other rental sites either. The system does remember me, and giftcode still applied fine, so if you are entitled to use this offer I see no reason why it wouldn't let you. If anyone is having problems with customer service then it's probably because they are confusing two different types of promotion or you aren't entitled to use it in the first place.
