inspired and positive at last!

hi from a very new MSMer!
after quietly following this site for a few weeks, have now been so inspired that i have finally done something about my debts!!
spent last week HONESTLY looking through all paperwork (and not giving up halfway through, as I always did before)
have now contacted all creditors, made offers and explanations and have made several small token payments.
responses so far have been positive and it is such a relief!! :T
quite exciting waiting for the post today!
also, several of my debts have come from stupid things, where i shouldnt really have been charged, and i have finally got off my butt and started hassling those companies involved!!
thanks to all for your inspiration.
would love you all to follow me through the ups and downs of 'going straight' (as I am sure there will be plenty!!!)
i would love any advice on offer and if I can, I will be happy to return it.
anyway, rambling on now x
:A

  • Hi aliyah
    Well done !!
I am going through a similar thing apart from i have been trying to run a bussiness for a while knowing that something was going wrong, i just didn't want to admit it.
I called payplan this week and now things are in motion, I know i have a long way to go but some of the stress has already been lifted just knowing that there is help and also the poeple on this site are great, i have found the wealth of experience on here so helpful.

hey superstar! glad to hear we got something in common and well done to you too!
    how exactly do payplan operate?
do they contact creditors or just advise?
    :A
  • Well done to both you guys, i was there a year ago and it will get easier from now on for you both....

aliyah: my experience is with cccs but i think that payplan works in the same way, you pay them a monthly payment and they distribute your payments to all your creditors, someone will correct me if they do it differently.....

keep us in touch with how you go,

    W :-)

  • Thanks W
Yes you give payplan a ring and give them some details and they will talk to your creditors and sort things out , you then pay payplan and they pay creditors.
They don't charge you anything so the money you pay actually goes to the debt.
I am still in the midst of sorting it out but I have found that the people at payplan don't judge you and they are not condisending in any way, they are just there to help.

    thanks W,
before starting my negotiations with companies last week, was considering something along the lines of payplan etc.
however, feeling i may be able to handle this myself. until i survey my list....

    i owe: (gulp)

    lloyds overdraft £800

    poll tax £1350

LA Fitness £215.00 - although have written with valid medical info pleeeeeding for them to cancel debt as I couldnt go because of ill health (not sure if this will work, but their debt collectors, CARS are useless!

    Avon £123.00

Overpaid Tax Credit (hide your eyes!) 17,000 ..........apparently, have asked for a review

    £180 parking/speeding tickets

£800 to ?? i have finally contacted Scotcall debt collectors, who have been hassling me for a year over a debt that I am totally unsure about. dont know who it is owed to or for what!!! am waiting to hear back....

Tescotalk £115 - dont quite get this, but have been charged by BT, TalkTalk and Tescotalk and some of the periods overlap. This will be a nightmare to sort out, as whenmy head wass previously in the sand, I often threw all the bills and call lists away!
have settled last week with BT and TalkTalk (both current companies) but Tesco will accept £10 monthly

by the way, finding TalkTalk way too expensive (calling mobiles too much - other calls all inc. for I think £10.00 per month

    any advice would be great
sure i have missed something out - this is all from memory
