If you want a really cheap cream you could get aqueous cream from a chemist. It comes in huge tubs and is recommended for people with skin problems, but it is basically just a moisturiser.

I was reading about the virtues of Ponds Dry Skin Cream with UVA/UVB protection the other day and am going to give it a go as soon as i can.

Presently i am using Bio Oil at night, which is about the best thing i have ever tried.

  • This is brilliant - Thanks!
I must admit to trying many different creams in the past (expensive and cheap) and Olay suits my skin just now so I am loathe to change. I think I'll give some of the suggestions a try but if they don't suit I'll just have to budget harder in other place to leave me £20 spare.
    Thanks again

I like the Olay one too. Heres a bit of a sneaky tip - in Boots they have testers of it. If you go there without any make-up on you can have a blob of it for free. You get a few strange looks but it saves you a days worth of it :o

When I go into the shops in Town, I go around the make up counters and tell them that I'm really interested in buying their full range to suit my skin, you know soap, cleaser, moisturiser.
I tell them that I've got really sensitive skin, and ask for some samples. I've aquired loads of freebies doing this, also I do treat myself and give them my money now and again !!, and always always ask for samples, make up counters always have heaps of freebies to give out, they just never offer !.
Clinque are especially good as they have little 3 step packs with a soap, clarifying lotion and moisturiser, which they'll give out if you tell them you want to try their range.
I also use Nivea and think it's brill.
  • I have dry and itchy skin and have tried lots of differemt creams especially for dry/sensitive skin but none seems to work as well as E45. I have used it for 20 years now with no ill effects. A big pot lasts ages and I can use it as a handcream as well.

  • I buy all my make up and face creams off ebay. I've been doing this for over ayear and no problems as yet.

    E.g Lipfinity rrp £10 ebay £4

As I apply my make up with a trowel there are great savings to be made.

I buy mine from ebay too - I always have Olay Total Effects day and night. It's £14.99 for two plus £2.49 p&p but if you buy two lots - ie 2 of each, day and night - the postage is only £4.48, which means that four bottles costs £34.46 or £8.61-and-a-half per bottle. Of course, that's always assuming you can pay £34.46 in one go, but I've been doing this for ages and it's by far the cheapest way, unless Sainsbury's re-do their BOGOF offer of a couple of years ago (when I bought up most of their stock and could hardly afford to eat for a while!!)... Anyway, if you want to know the details of the ebay seller let me know, and I'll check out the name (can't remember it at the moment but it's all Buy It Now, you don't have to bid or anything and they're fast delivery and no hassle).
  • I was recently in Holland and Barretts and noticed a large tub of Vitamin E cream currently on 1/2 price for only £1.27. I bought it as I didn't think I could go wrong at that price and I have to say it's brilliant, it leaves my skin feeling soft and silky without any greasy residue.
