Then please let me apologise, I misunderstood your remark.
I home ed as my eldest son has special needs and was greatly distressed with bullying through my local mainstream school. He has now been placed in an autistic unit elsewhere. My younger son is far more able and is home tutored as I am very unhappy with the local school due to my elder son's experience. We absolutely love it and my son thrives on it. His enthusiasm for learning is insatiable as any interest he has is indulged to the extreme. For example he loves learning about ancient history so by the age of 6 he has completed projects on the Aztecs, Romans, Greeks etc but at school this would have been stifled as it would not be covered by the curriculum this early. He is able to solve mathematical problems which his peers at school would not yet have been introduced to. As we are not confined by the governments demands on schools we can cover subjects which the student has an eager interest in and have more time to devote to those subjects. It is a more organic approach to education which also enriches the family too.
There is obviously much more to it than this brief response and every home educator has a different approach, some being more structured than others for example, but I hope this has answered your question to an extent.
Again, I apologise for having mistaken your comment.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

My 13 year old does well at school & has lots of mates. My 10 year old daughter was struggling...she has dyslexia which the school refused to acknowledge but catagorised her as SEN anyway without my knowledge. She was also picked on because of this.TorrestheGreat wrote: »why do people home ed
Since taking her out of school in September she has thrived. We mainly learn autonomously through life skills, although also do projects such as The Egyptians, electronics, english etc etc. We live on a farm so she is getting a great practical education. She has tons of friends now through the local HE group and cubs!! Great fun!:jInfamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!
