Dont know if this is the right place for this, so sorry if it isnt!
We own a bar and last night we had a very buzy night. As you know it was freezing and we have a garden the students love to sit in as it has heating, however there are really steep metal steps to the garden and wooden decking all which gets really slippery.
We needed grit to stop it being so slippery but all the garages had sold out, so we drove to Asda. Adsa said they do not have any grit but what people have been using is smart price Cat Litter mixed with some salt. He said recently they had had an influx of people buying cat litter and they did not know why! This was the reason. People had been using it to grit there driveways etc! Has to be the cheap cat litter though becuase the expensive stuff is paper based and the cheap stuff is literally just grit!
A massive bag of it is £1.19 and then a cheap tub of salt! Brilliant.
We used it last night and through the whole night we only had 2 minor slips (Mostly due to drunkeness).
Hope this helps someone.:j
