New Member needing help

Hi Guys
I have read lots of posts on here and compared our situation many times and done absolutley nothing about it! We have got to the point where because of a lower income than i have ever had i now have more going out tham coming in even before i pay some of my cards. I feel so embarrassed that i have let the situation get to this and have put my wife and 2 kids in a horrible position. We have a mortgage that has never missed a payment(my shining light!) a car payment that is up to date ut several cards that are maxd out to the tune of around £35k combined. I have bitten the bullet and booked an appointment with CAB for tomorrow morning, i have no idea what they will say, i have the feeling that they will kick me out as a lost cause. My card situation is that the letters come and i do keep in contact with them citing bonus`that i never got as my issue(this is true) last 1/4 i got a 9k bonus but after tax it was 5k, i got all my cards up to date which cost us around 3k and now i am back to square one. I dont want to second guess what CAB will say but we are really worried that we will lose our house and everthing we have.

    Hi,

first of all welcome to the forum & well done for taking the first step in aranging a meeting at CAB.

I'm sure they will be very helpful. The usual advice on here is to first post up a Statement OF Affairs which details your income & outgoings. Many people have approached the Consumer Credit Counselling Service www.cccs.co.uk which is a charity ie non fee paying organisation which helps people to organise their debts in manageable way. I would recommend that you have a look at their online budget planner; you may find that in fact you do have something to pay towards the debts once you have reduced your outgoings as much as possible.

The main thing is to realise that you are not alone in dealing with this, there are many people here who have found that seemingly impossible debt problems can be dealt with.

Try to post your statement of affairs & there will be many here who can help you to cut your costs by reducing unnecessary expenditure.

    Good luck & keep posting

  • Well I doubt very much CAB will say you are a lost cause - if they do come back on here and I'm sure someone will sort them out for you  - seriously though there is loads of help around for you.
35k is a lot of debt but there are plenty of people who have had worse and are coming out the other side. Please do not worry about losing your house just yet - there are other options to consider before this so don't panic yet.

Would definitely try and do an SOA if you can - even if it's just to get a rough idea of your situation. Post it up here and people can give you loads of hints and ideas and an idea what might be the best solutions for you.

    Best of luck for tomorrow.
