I found the puzzle, as I said I really wouldnt recommend this for younger kids:
You have a digital clock, displaying the hour and the minute only, with hours in the 12-hour format. How many times during an entire day will 3 or more identical digits appear consecutively in a row? For example, 03:33 is counted as once.

Is it a trick question as during a day, a 12 hour clock would display each time twice!! So perhaps 37 * 2 = 74

My brain hurts!! probably glad I can't buy this one;)
  • There were four copies of this game sitting on the shelf of WHSmiths in Margate this morning so it might be worth checking your own Smiths to see if they've had a delivery.

answer is 10. The hands pass over each other once an hour but since they start and end directly on top of each other, two of the twelve hours do not count as a pass

    Hi

Cheers, but wrong question I think. your answer is about an analogue clock; this question is about a digital clock!! I'm guessing your answer may realte to another question on PL??

i really struggled with this question.... each time is counted twice, as it's a digital 12 hr display.

My brain hurt big time after trying it
