Cheapest source of flaxseed (linseed) oil?

Hi,
Does anyone know where to get flaxseed oil liquid (not capsules) cheaply? I add ground flax and hemp seeds to e.g. porridge, but take 1 or 2 tablespoons per day of the oil too.
Holland & Barrett shops were selling 500ml bottles for £5.33 (I think), but they are currently priced at £10.99.

Flax Seed Oil Liquid - introduced due to the huge demand and media attention this product has received. Flaxseed Oil is a naturally rich source of the Omega 3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid. Through a unique cold processing method, the flaxseeds are pressed at very cold temperatures and are processed without solvents. RDD 1 5ml teaspoonful twice per Day 360ml

You do seem to be taking rather a lot of flaxseed oil. I'm sure you would do better to increase the amount on your cereal as this also contains fibre and lignans which are beneficial. I use the ordinary, non-organic-brown linseed and at £5.75 for 5kg this lasts us both quite a while just grinding a pot each week to add to cereal/toppings/yoghurt/baking/stews etc.
Your body is really designed to deal with marine oils from oily fish so if money is a problem and you still want this amount of omega3 you could switch to Zipvits Omega Juice and get 360ml for 5.95 and just 2 tsps of this provides 3g of Omega 3My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

The farmer gets about £160 at ton for flaxseed, no doubt there is a bit of a premium for the organic but even so I wonder what the excuse is for the price difference 16p a kilo for the farmer and nearly £10 Kilo on the supermarket shelf?
I buy a 5kg bag of brown non-organic linseed from my healthfood shop for £5.75ish so I'd suggest you would save by buying this way and just grind up in a coffee grinder a weeks supply at a time. You do need to keep your bulk bag in a totally mouse free zone or container as they love it and once they have nibbled a hole in the bag it flows out and you lose the lot.
Whole it seems to keep for ages. We have a tablespoon each on our cereal and use a bit more on toppings cereals stews etc. so we've usually used the bag before the bb date. We keep the ground container in the fridge and that's used up in a week.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Apparently Holland and Barrett will be reducing their 500ml flaxseed oil from £10.99 to about £5.99 for three weeks starting this Friday (27th January).
About the H&B product... it's not organic, and most/all H&B shops have it at room temperature. (The label instructions say to refrigerate after opening.) In comparison, I bought a small bottle of organic flaxseed oil, FMD brand, from a health food shop. It was refrigerated in the shop, and tastes better than the H&B oil. Is this because the H&B oil is stored at room temp, or because the FMD oil is from golden, as opposed to brown, flax seeds??? Assuming the H&B oil is nutritionally equivalent, I'll stick with that since it's cheaper.

I find it difficult to see why people take Flax seed as OIL when it's so easy to use linseed ground up and sprinkled on cereal or incorporated in you cooking or salads?
Have a look at Flaxseedusa Flax information Why miss out on all those lignans which many oils filter out? Why miss out on the benefits of the soluble and insoluble fibre?

Just searching on google for prices of grounded/milled flax/linseed in UK shops and found this thread.
Where do you buy your grounded flax/linseed from?
I imagine that buying in bulk obviously would be better, would I have to be careful how long and where I store it?
I remember on packaging of the old milled linseed I used to buy from tesco before it was discontinued it recommended 2-3 teaspoons a day, does this sound about right?
Thanks

Rob - Ted grinds his own. From his post #5:I buy a 5kg bag of brown non-organic linseed from my healthfood shop for £5.75ish so I'd suggest you would save by buying this way and just grind up in a coffee grinder a weeks supply at a time.

If he sees your post I'm sure he'll be along to offer some advice.0 -

You need to crack the linseed by giving it a quick whizz in a Electric Coffee/spice mill like these I picked mine up in Aldi a while ago, I've also seen them in Lidl's but as they are not a regular item it may be best to buy a cheapo one from Amazon or similar.
If you grind the linseed a bit longer so it's more like a flour you can use it as a substitute for eggs or fat.
I get mine in large bags from my local SUMA wholefood shop. I haven't bought any for a while as my farmer neighbour grew some and I had some of his. The SUMA price will be more now because there has been a rise in the farm price.
I always have a heaped tablespoon of ground flaxseed on my low carb breakfast fry up of bacon, eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms to soak up any remaining bacon fats/coconut oil. It's easy not to snack between meals when you start the day with a large low carb breakfast.
The seeds whole will keep for a year or so in a cool place (protect well from mice they love it) but once ground it needs to be kept in the fridge as the oil can go rancid. I grind sufficient for us both for a week and keep it in a pot in the fridge and just take it out to throw in whatever to improve the omega 3 ratio. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
