I can't believe these prices either this year stacey777. Yesterday Iceland were the same prices as Tesco. We're going to check Tesco today again as offers change on a Wednesday. Let me know if you find any good prices please.0

a cheap turkey will be rare bird this xmas. The cost to rear them with expensive grain plus other overheads for the farmer have rocketed.
The scare over pork is not helping either0 -

I admit to getting a little fed up with Somerfield as well! They keep sending out leaflets that say they will be doing "half price" turkeys again this year, but then saying check in store for "regional prices" (and since they are a chain I always get annoyed at "regional" anything).
However, no sign of any Turkeys in store yet - and no-one with any knowledge of what that "half price" may be:rolleyes:"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
Tesco still the same price today - they say they don't know if that'll be the final price or if they will come down.0

Got quoted £50 today by a good local butcher for a boned/stuffed bird for 12-14 people. Confirmed that prices are well up this year for variety of reasons, including feed costs.0

We ate one of these on Sunday. It was good, but I suspected it wouldn't feed as many people as the package claimed, and I was right. We had four adults, one teen and four children, and there was nothing of the turkey left. We had plenty of side-dishes too.
I'll want something bigger for Xmas dinner - we'll eat our main meal on Xmas Eve, and have leftovers on Xmas Day, and if I'm going to that much effort, I want it to last for more than one meal LOL.0
