Hello ELLA

I'm sure the experts who contribute to the 'Old Style' board will come up with lots of suggestions, so I'll move your thread across.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Ella,

I have merged your thread with another one on the same subject as it helps other Old Stylers to find all the suggestions in one thread. As always posts are listed in date order, so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

I had my mother's ring cleaned professionally years ago, and they gave me the same advice re the soapy water and toothbrush. They suggested using a baby's toothbrush, and also said when I clean the underside of the stone, I should place my finger against the top, so that there's no chance of any pressure pushing the stone out. And of course, make sure the stopper's in the sink!
