i ordered 2 sofas fro M&S on their 40% off weekend in November. I pay when they are deliveredi n January.
Do they have to pass on the VAT reduction if the order was placed (but not paid for) before 1st Dec?
Thanks for your help.

They should pass on the tax reduction because the supply date is after the change. However they are not obliged to as they could pocket the difference; unlikely with M&S!0

You should be charged the reduced rate as it is made at the point of sale, which for you would be January.
The HMRC website does give guidance.
