  • Dont apologise, feel free to hijack.

Got in from work tonight and my wife is all fired up and ready for it!!!

This is our plan, feel free to advise!!

Move all income to our old dormant, but still working, RBS account. The reason being my current account is with Barclays as is one credit card and a loan.

Stop paying all credit cards, loans and mortgage. Save as much as possible for the fees and go BR.

    One Question?

We have basically been eating beans on toast for ages, if i dont pay the mortgage for 6 months i will have 6 months mortgage payments in our account around £3000, If the OR says were is the money can i say we started to eat properly and started to shop and spend £100 a week?

This must be the daftest question ever, sorry

Not daft at all. Once you've factored in moving costs, deposit on the rented place and, yes, eating something other than beans on toast, it is not going to look as though you've been splashing the cash around recklessly. Have a look at some of the recent SOAs on here to get an idea of housekeeping budgets, though bear in mind that these often look higher than the amount people actually spend, because it's often the only way you can save for emergencies such as car repairs.
  • Well i have done nothing but read posts, really good info and not many trolls.

I get paid on the 24th of every month, is it best to go BR maybe on the 26th so i can get all my cash out, set up a new account and give the details to Payroll so i can get paid ok?

Exactly! You've got it! Unless 27th more reliable for funds to clear? Also be careful to make sure direct debits you plan to continue using, if any, are fully paid up.
  • just look at my SOA and realised i had made a mistake, its correct now, i put down to little for barclay loan, oopps
