You could sell them and then treat yourself to something with the money.Guinea wrote:Well if you want to go and do it then you go and do it. I don't and that is my opinion. I'm sure it is a very good offer but the idea is that I want to TREAT myself for getting all these points and not just accept money for them.

I have to say that the offer of cash is much better than any offers you get from Nectar themselves.... I dont bother shopping anywhere that give me nectar points now as they are pretty worthless in my opinion.
May start collecting them again now I know there are people that would pay cash for them!!2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
you can use them in lunn poly, not sure how much you need though.0

I just wondered whether all you money savers could help me with this question that I have about Nectar points. I have about 7200 points on my Nectar card and am wondering what to redeem the points on.
I know this is quite a trivial thing to ask but I have heard such varied things about the redeem value of the Nectar points that I need some advice. Obviously I have spent quite a bit on petrol and such like to get those points (I KNOW not as many points as some people!!) that I want my 'reward' to be quite good and perhaps a treat.
Have any of you got any advice about this?

Last year I redeemed £40's worth of points at Argos. When I got the item home it turned out to be rubbish so I took it back. To my suprise, and contary to Argos's and Nectars terms and conditions, they gave me my refund in cash! Don't know if you could get this to work any other time but as the system allowed it for me so it may be possible. Whether it's ethical to try and get it to work out deliberately is another matter.Joe

Sounds great! Thanks for that.

This happened to me as well about a year ago - I was quite annoyed as I had spent ages collecting the points and wanted to buy something tangible with them.
Didn't realise that it was against the Ts&Cs - the assistant in Argos told me that they do not have the technology in store to refund the points back on to the card
- or perhaps she just didn't know how to do it? 0 -

Well, to be honest, IIRC, I haven't read the terms and conditions but I did read the FAQ on the Argos website before redeeming my points. It said you can only have refunds given as points put back on your Nectar account. I would presume this would be in their T&C
Certainly sounds plausible that they don't have the technology to do it, it is Argos after all :-)
If I had known this before I might have, ahem, redeemed them sooner ;-) Most of my points came from old Barclaycard points which they converted to Nectarpoints when they backed down over scrubbing all the members points. I don't tend to go for cashback point collection schemes, I generally just look for the best price. You can usually easily beat the price of points scheme members by more than the 1-2% cashback.
This becoming widely known isn't going to bring the Nectar/Argos relationship down is it?Joe
