Debt collection - HELP Please

I bought a Vodafone contract from Link 6 months back. But I returned that immediately without using handset or sim, back to Link within a week as per their terms.
But Link has not informed to vodafone that I have returned the phone and hence Vodafone has continued to charge me. But since I haven't made any payments they have referred me to collection agency "Credit Solutions".
I am now trying to contact Vodafone and The Link to sort things out. Meanwhile "Credit Solutions" has refused to wait for my payment. If I don't make a payment by tomorrow, they said they will send a "Debt Collector" to my home.
So, what are my options
1) Pay them and then get a REFUND. Will they offer a refund, if Vodafone and Link agrees I have returned the handset as per the terms.
2) Delay them the payment and WAIT for "Debt Collector" to come home.
All these "Debt collection" is new to me. I have made all my payments for past 3 years in time.

Do you have proof that Link got the phone back?
If so then you owe nothing and should pay nothing.
If a debt collector calls at your house then never under any circumstances let them in!They have no right of entry without a court order whatever they say.
I would also go back to Link pretty damn quick and TELL them to sort this out with Vodafone AND tell them that you will be suing them for wrongful harrassement.0 -

Thanks for your reply.
I got all the bills from Link, for purchase and refund. I will go to Link tomorrow and sort this soon.0 -
Pay Credit Solutions nothing. They have had a very large number of complaints to Trading Standards about their methods.
If they contact you again, tell them that you are reporting them.0 -
Don't be intimidated by vodafone who say they will 'send the boys round' if you don't pay!
I hate these silly bully boy tactics.......Did you not notice after the first say three months you were being charged by vodafone...No paper bills or DD's coming out of your account? In debt no more!0 -
It is an offence for a Debt collector to chase a disputed debt and you can report them to the OFT. Write to them saying that the debt is firmly in dispute and any further attempts to collect will be considered harassment and reported to the OFT.
Further details available under debt collectors guidelines on the OFT website. That'll soon make them back off0 -
vodaphone tried to do something similar to my sister... refused to acknowledge contract had been cancelled until letter from a solicitor was sent... hmm. I have a vodaphone contract to get out of in July *looks worried*0
