Hi,
I'm new to the forums on here but not the website. Just have a quick question...
I'm a nurse working in the NHS, came across this - NHS Mortgage Services https://www.nhsmortgageservices.com/index.asp - when browsing through the NHS discounts website.
Anybody used them? Or have any opinion on them?
Would appreciate any replies...will be hunting for a mortgage soon and if these lot seem ok, it might be a good place to start.
Thanks

Being a GP myself and NHS, I will recommend go with L+C, as well do your own search on other major lender websites such as hsbc etc . Make a picture of the mortgage market after you have 5 good quotes. NHS discounts is a good website and I would want you to consider their results in this. At the end of the day its the 'numbers on the wall'Inside I am THINKING.0

Thanks for the reply
One question...L+C??? Had a long night, brain might not be working so well today!0 -
seems run by or setup in conjunction with an employee benefits firm, . FSA site implies just 2 yrs regsitered with them (poss much less time for mortgage work) - but may have a previous setup ??
As with all brokers- consider if you are happy with their terms of service ( fees - if any, whether you prefer face to face or tel dealing, and if they include direct deals or not / is that an issue? ) .
Many brokers have experience of dealing with NHS staff - especially those with offices close to the major hospitals
Care some people may see a new user to these forums - who posts a weblink and think its spamAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
This is just a quick reply.
My advice is do not go with them. I had an application going through with them and it was a nightmare from start to finish. I was told the rate I was offered was the best on the market and that interest rates would not fall again and I was told this was the perfect rate for me.
Since then rates have fallen and they fell a week after I was promised they would not. This company is just a standard broker that offers nothing more than bad advice.
Look at companies like Yorkshire and HSBC, strong companies that dont use brokers. When you look at the way this company is run you can see why they dont.0 -

London and Country. I've used them before and they were great: in fact I will be paying 1.75% from March on a mortgage they arranged.

However, just as they have deals not available with lenders direct, so there are also products which lenders do not market through brokers, so you still need to do your own research.RIP independent MSE.

NHS mortgage do not offer rates that low that would mean they have offered you a deal that it the same or better than the Bank of England base rate. If that was the case how would your lender make any profit the lender would be bankkrupt. They offer tracker rates which is a % ABOVE the bank of England base rate. So I am not sure how you got that deal. They only possible way is if your employed by the business and talking nonsense to try and save face. Look forward to the response?
If any would like to look at the best deals in the market look at HSBC and Yorkshire they dont use brokers and I would bet you will not find a deal that low?
Funny though the NHS Mortgage services can? Funny as they dont have specialised lenders products.0
