"The RICS said that the commercial property downturn will stretch into 2011 and will exceed the slump experienced in both the 1970 and 1990 recessions.
Capital values have already tumbled 25pc since the start of the credit crisis in June last year and the surveyors' group predicted another 25pc fall, with at least 16pc next year and 10pc in 2010."

I'd be interested to see if this loss of value extended to the various self storage places. I use a storage facility and every 6 months they up the charge by at least 5% and it would be nice to think that at the very least it will stay the same this time. Getting cheaper would be even better.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If a company is renting - times may be tough but thinking long term... buying your office space may be a good move for the future!
Of course - prices will continue to fall so it is a matter of waiting for the best time to buy.0 -

Our storage bills always amaze me, and not in a good way!0 -

I wouldn't mind except that I get a letter saying that prices have gone up due to external financial pressures, by say 5%, then when they recalculate my bill they usually add on between 7-8% which means I have to trundle down there with a calculator to show them that it is wrong. They then all huddle round the PC trying to work out what 5% is on the basic payment until finally they give up and just let me pay the amount I calculate is due.
If office space really does drop by the headline amount I might be better off renting a proper office instead of working partly at home and using self storage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just in time for the next revaluation (in 2010) then by the VOA. However, the Anticedent Valuation Date was 01/04/08.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0
